N & L // Markree Castle

I’m so excited to share this beautiful wedding from the fabulous Markee Castle that I was thrilled to be a part of. Niamh & Luke are the perfect match, they’ve been mad about each other ever since they met studying History in Trinity college.

The day commenced with groom prep against the backdrop of Sligo’s rugged coastline after the guy’s had been out surfing that morning. What a way to start your wedding morning!

Niamh had the most beautiful details with invites from Papier, blue sweetbee ring box from Bride to Bee and her stunning velvet shoes came from Lulu’s in the US.  Her dress was by British designer Stephanie Allin.

The flowers were simply divine, elegantly arranged by the talented Juliana from Anthesis Floral. Using mostly Irish grown blooms from her own garden, Juliana specialises in creating floral designs that use curvaceous stems, varied textures and beautiful tones. I’m obsessed with her romantic aesthetic, these arrangements photograph so beautifully.

We were very lucky that the ceremony could take place outdoors in mid-Sept and the castle’s enchanting terrace and gardens provided the perfect backdrop.

Both of Niamh’s parents walked her up the aisle which was a beautiful touch and the couple’s friends and family all contributed to the ceremony with lovely poetry and music. Luke’s Dad and brother played and sang ‘If not for you’ by Bob Dylan and all five of the bridesmaids sang ‘Songbird’ by Fleetwood Mac.

The bridesmaid’s gorgeous guna’s were by Jenny Yoo at Covet while groomswear was from Louis Copeland and Moss Bros. It was a pleasure to work alongside James Ryan of Lovestruck Films. His approach was discreet and easy-going. While we were out capturing the portraits, inside Linda Byrne was on hand for keepsake illustrations for all the guests.

Dinner in the grand ballroom was followed by the cake cutting made by Niamh’s mum Breeda! Dancing ensued into the wee hours ending a truly spectacular day for the happy newlyweds and their guests.
